Application of Bioinformatics in Stem Cell Research
Bioinformatics is the application of information technology to the field of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative medicine. Bioinformatics involves the use of computers to collect, organize and use biological information to answer questions in fields like evolutionary biology. The fields of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine research are fundamentally about understanding dynamic cellular processes such as development, reprogramming, repair, differentiation and the loss, acquisition or maintenance of pluripotency. Bioinformatics tools were employed to understand the regulation of gene expression at the level of transcription, epigenetics and chromatin structure. Bioinformatics underpins and enables research across the life sciences.
